Creating Theatre Workshop with Alex Howarth and Keron Day

24/07/26 at 13:00

Step inside the creation process of You and Me (and Whoever Comes Next) – a bold new play heading to Summerhall at the Edinburgh Fringe after winning the Mary Dick Award, supported by Hall for Cornwall.

Join writers Keron Day and Alex Howarth as they unpack how the show came together, from early ideas to full production, with space for your questions on the writing and development process. Then it’s your turn: take part in a hands-on group activity and start shaping the plot of your own play.

Keron Day is a Cornish performer, writer and activist known for Kirkmoore (BBC) and Sex Education (Netflix). Alex Howarth is an award-winning writer and director, named one of The Guardian’s 10 Stage Sensations, and the first director in history to have work performed at the United Nations.

ROT RESIDENCY

31ST August - 5th OF SEP

ROT is a four-day residential gathering for queer, disabled and neurodivergent artists working across sound, performance and interdisciplinary practice.

Hosted at The Creation Works in Par, Cornwall, ROT brings together artists, performers, makers and thinkers for four days of collective living, experimentation and creative exchange. Together we will share meals, conversations, unfinished projects, strange ideas, walks, naps and moments of unexpected connection.

Led by two facilitators (Scamp Niemz @scamp4u and Joss Affleck @mister_laneous), the residency creates space for artists to explore new approaches to making, collaborate across disciplines, and develop ideas through play, experimentation and mutual support.

TESTIMONIAL

"The Creation Works is a truly special place. They have created a warm, welcoming community hub that has considered the needs of artists every step of the way. With their support we were able to push into creative territory we wouldn't have been able to otherwise, and we left our residency feeling recharged and re-energised."
